MICHELLE WOODBRIDGE

My work is all about responses, a visualization of my life both as an artist and a writer. I try to express in a painting what I write in paper. It has been a journey inwards, to my core, where my feelings and poems integrate with canvas. Sometimes it’s daunting to confront the empty canvas. I derive comfort from playing with colors. My abstractions are a continuous adventure of color and figures. A search for a meaning that bring together my childhood to adulthood. Color is a state of mind.

I start a white canvas and make it a journey between me and my brushes. Is not just about techniques is about being able to overcome fears and make the painting a continuous discovery, a revelation. Each of my paintings has anarrative, a poem, a feeling of its own. This is why there is joy when I become myself.
